The Manufacturing Intern Program connects manufacturers located in Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Washington, or Westmoreland counties to students in colleges, universities, and technical schools.
Each participating company may receive up to a maximum of $2,500 for work performed by one or more interns based on a 1:1 match from the employing company (the company must provide a minimum of $5,000 gross compensation to one or more interns to receive the maximum $2,500 intern reimbursement).
Interns cannot be a family member of an employee of the hiring company or an immediate family member of any Innovation Works employees, consultants, Board Members, or any elected Pennsylvania officials.

FAQs
Q: Does IW supply the interns or can we hire our own?
A: You can absolutely hire your own intern, or you can apply and ask for help finding an intern. Each year, students approach IW for internships, and we maintain a database of their resumes. We are also willing to share your job posting on our Job Board, which will forward applications to you directly.
Q: Can I hire more than one intern?
A: Definitely! Hiring more interns increases the chances that you will reach the cap on your company’s grant.
Q: Does the internship have to be technical/manufacturing related?
A: One of the beautiful things about manufacturing businesses is that they require all kinds of skills in order to operate. As a result, any internship, from HR to welding to sales to engineering, is eligible for reimbursement through the MIP Grant.
